Job Purpose
The Department Head – Local Large Corporates is responsible for leading and developing the Local Large Corporates (LLC) business at the branch, driving sustainable revenue growth, managing key client relationships, and ensuring strong risk governance in line with the bank’s global and regional credit, compliance, and operating standards. The role provides strategic leadership to Relationship Managers (RMs) and acts as a key interface between the branch, regional management, and head office.

Key Responsibilities
Business & Strategy
  • Develop and execute the LLC business strategy for Vietnam in alignment with branch, regional, and global corporate banking objectives
  • Drive balance sheet growth, fee income, and profitability while maintaining disciplined risk‑adjusted returns
  • Identify new business opportunities with large Vietnamese corporates, including cross‑border and regional connectivity opportunities
  • Strengthen the bank’s market positioning with top‑tier local corporate clients
Client Coverage & Relationship Management
  • Act as the senior relationship sponsor for key strategic existing and new LLC clients
  • Lead complex client negotiations, including credit facilities, pricing, and transaction structures
  • Promote cross‑selling of products (lending, trade finance, cash management, FX, capital solutions, etc.) in partnership with product teams
Credit, Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure credit proposals meet the bank’s risk appetite, credit policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the first line of defense for credit quality, portfolio management, and early warning signals
  • Oversee portfolio quality, including exposure concentrations, asset quality, watchlists, and remedial actions
  • Ensure full compliance with SBV regulations, internal policies, AML/KYC, and conduct standards
Team Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of RMs and ARMs
  • Set clear performance objectives, KPIs, and development plans for team members
  • Build a strong client‑centric and risk‑aware culture within the department
  • Support succession planning and talent retention
Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with Branch GM, Regional GM, credit, risk, compliance, operations, and product partners
  • Represent the department in internal governance forums, committees, and audits
  • Maintain effective communication with regional and head‑office stakeholders

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Revenue growth and profitability of the LLC portfolio
  • Asset quality and portfolio health metrics
  • Client acquisition and retention
  • Cross‑sell penetration and wallet share
  • Staff performance, engagement, and retention
  • Compliance and audit outcomes

Candidate Profile & Requirements
Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Relationship Manager or above in the same field
  • Proven experience covering local large corporates in Vietnam
  • Prior leadership experience managing RMs or client portfolios is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a foreign bank or international banking environment is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong corporate credit analysis and structuring skills
  • Deep understanding of Vietnamese large corporate clients and industries
  • Sound knowledge of SBV regulations and international banking standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic mindset with strong execution capability
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or related field
  • MBA or professional banking qualifications are a plus
Language
  • Fluency in Vietnamese and English (written and spoken) is required
  • Proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
