QC Inspector (Soft Goods / OEM Manufacturing)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented QC Inspector to conduct product quality inspections at OEM soft goods manufacturing partners across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. This role focuses primarily on finished goods inspections while supporting broader quality activities to ensure all production lots meet company specifications, AQL standards, and brand requirements before shipment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in textile, apparel, bags, or other soft goods manufacturing, with a strong eye for fabric and sewing defects and the integrity to make consistent, evidence-based inspection decisions in a factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection Execution
- Conduct final inspections at OEM factories for soft goods, including textiles, bags, pouches, apparel, accessories, and other cut-and-sew products.
- Perform cosmetic and functional inspections covering finished products, fabrics, trims, sewing quality, workmanship, and overall product appearance.
- Classify defects as Critical, Major, or Minor and determine pass/fail results according to AQL standards.
- Verify primary and secondary packaging, artwork accuracy, carton dimensions, labeling, and packaging quality.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare inspection reports using the company's standard format with complete photo documentation.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for failed inspections and monitor corrective actions.
- Track factory rework, support CAPA activities, and participate in follow-up audits when required.
- Maintain defect trend records to identify recurring quality issues and support SCAR/CAPA investigations led by the Regional Quality Manager.
Compliance & Quality Integrity
- Conduct inspections with professionalism, objectivity, and independence.
- Maintain strict compliance with company quality policies and ethical standards.
- Ensure inspection decisions remain unbiased and free from external influence.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Technology, Fashion Design, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of quality inspection experience in soft goods manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience performing AQL final inspections in OEM garment, textile, bag, home textile, or cut-and-sew manufacturing environments.
- Experience inspecting products for international brands or export manufacturing is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of common soft goods defects, including:
- Fabric defects (shade variation, holes, snags, contamination)
- Sewing defects (skipped stitches, open seams, seam puckering)
- Trim defects (broken zippers, loose buttons, defective accessories)
- Printing and embroidery defects
- Familiarity with inspection tools such as:
- Measuring tape
- Seam ruler
- Stitch counter
- Fabric gauge
- Pull tester
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, approved samples, measurement charts, and product requirements.
Skills
- Good English communication skills for reading specifications and preparing inspection reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience using QMS or digital inspection systems is an advantage.
- Willing to travel up to 30% within Vietnam.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes, including dyeing, printing, cutting, sewing, finishing, and packaging.
- Previous experience with third-party inspection organizations such as QIMA, SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, or similar.
- Familiarity with textile testing standards, including colorfastness, seam strength, fabric weight, and fabric composition.
- Understanding of different fabric constructions, including woven, knit, non-woven, and coated fabrics, and their related defect characteristics.
- Conversational Mandarin/Chinese for communication with China-based technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving approach.
