About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a fast-growing international manufacturing company in the industrial and infrastructure solutions sector. With expanding operations across APAC, the organization is building a strong regional sourcing capability and is looking for a Technical Sourcing Engineer to play a key role in this journey.
Role Overview
The Technical Sourcing Engineer sits at the intersection of Engineering, Quality, and Procurement, focusing on supplier capability, cost structure, and sourcing strategy development.
This is a non-transactional role (no daily PO processing), but remains hands-on and closely connected to factory operations and supplier engagement.
Scope of Sourcing
The role will initially focus on key categories including:
- Mechanical components (e.g. pipe, valves & fittings)
- Metal and fabricated products (steel, aluminium, structural components)
- Low-voltage electrical equipment and installation materials
The scope may expand as sourcing strategies evolve.
Key Responsibilities
Regional & International Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and benchmark suppliers across APAC (especially China)
- Support supplier selection, dual sourcing, and risk mitigation strategies
Category & Cost Analysis
- Analyze cost drivers, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Support cost breakdowns, benchmarking, and value engineering initiatives
RFQ & Supplier Coordination
- Translate technical requirements into structured RFQs
- Ensure suppliers quote on aligned scope and specifications
- Review quotations for technical and commercial alignment
Commercial & Contract Support
- Support drafting supplier agreements, NDAs, and framework contracts
- Ensure alignment between technical scope and commercial terms
- Identify and escalate risks in supplier agreements
Supplier Development
- Participate in supplier audits and capability assessments
- Work with suppliers to improve quality, lead time, and manufacturability
- Support onboarding of new suppliers
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Procurement teams
- Support design feasibility, costing, and sourcing decisions
Data & Governance
- Maintain sourcing databases, supplier lists, and benchmarking data
- Ensure proper documentation control and reporting
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
- 3–7 years of experience in technical sourcing, procurement engineering, or supplier development
- Experience with international sourcing (China, India, SEA preferred)
- Background in mechanical or engineered products
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Good commercial awareness and cost analysis capability
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with contracts, pricing structures, and Incoterms
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (SAP or similar)
- Good English communication (Chinese is a plus)
