The organization is experiencing steady growth and is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to support factory operations and ensure smooth procurement processes within a dynamic production environment.


Role Overview

The Purchasing Manager – Factory Operations is responsible for managing daily purchasing activities to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely procurement of materials, components, and operational supplies while working closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse, and Engineering teams.

This is a highly operational and execution-focused role, with strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations handled by regional procurement teams.


Scope of Purchasing

The role covers a wide range of materials and components used in manufacturing, including:

  • Mechanical and industrial components (e.g. valves, fittings, fasteners)
  • Electrical equipment (low-voltage)
  • Metal materials (steel, aluminium, fabricated components)
  • Plastic materials and industrial consumables
  • Outsourced fabrication and processing services

Key Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Lead and manage the factory purchasing team
  • Allocate tasks and ensure timely execution of purchasing activities
  • Train and develop team members while driving accountability

Daily Purchasing Operations

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing to support production requirements
  • Ensure timely placement of purchase orders
  • Coordinate closely with planning and warehouse teams

Supplier Coordination

  • Maintain relationships with approved suppliers
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve supply issues
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers when required

Order Management

  • Review purchase requests and issue purchase orders
  • Ensure accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines
  • Track and follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery

Inventory & Supply Coordination

  • Align purchasing with production demand
  • Prevent stock-outs while maintaining optimal inventory levels

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve purchasing workflows and operational efficiency
  • Support KPI tracking and reporting for procurement activities

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all purchasing activities follow internal policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 5–10 years of experience in purchasing/procurement within manufacturing
  • Experience supporting factory or production environments

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong operational purchasing and supplier coordination skills
  • Excellent organization and follow-up discipline
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers and priorities
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
  • Good command of English
