JOB DESCRIPTION 

Position: OPERATION MANAGER 

Working Place: Ho Chi Minh & Can Tho (3-4 days/ week, transportation supported) 

Working Time: Monday – Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) & Saturday morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) 

Report to  Managing Director 

 

Overview: 

Reporting to the Managing Director of Vietnam, the Operations Manager is accountable for the management, planning and direction of all activities within the Can Tho Laboratory including Chemistry (Chromatography & Classical Chemistry), Microbiology, Sample Reception (Sample Registration) and other operational functions as assigned. This role aims to deliver high-quality and cost-effective service to customers while ensuring that all compliance, operational, contractual and financial objectives are met. 

 

Key Responsibility: 

 

  • Deliver daily high-quality services to customers and develop operations targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to lead and motivate laboratory and support staff. 

  • Drive the lab improvement program by facilitating problem-solving sessions to determine root causes and implementing Lean / Continuous Improvement principles across all areas of our business. 

  • Lead and ensure laboratories use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) completely and efficiently, and consistently drive for continuous improvement of the system. 

  • Work with the General Director and Commercial team to develop and innovate new capabilities to support business growth. 

  • Manage costs in line with budgets and business plans, drive proactive cost-saving initiatives, and plan annual CAPEX requirements. 

  • Work with Quality and Technical team, ensure that all laboratory systems, including technical and quality procedures are aligned with company requirements, ISO/IEC17025 requirements, current certifications, accreditations and licenses, as well as future certification and accreditation needs in line with business development plans, and other government regulations and requirements. 

  • Lead workplace health & safety participation and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention. Through ongoing engagement with staff, ensuring health & safety at work is top priority and top of mind for all. 

  • Cooperate with the SEA management team, support in other projects in SEA 
    Ensure that critical results and issues are escalated to the General Director. 

  • In conjunction with the General Director and HR, build and grow the laboratory team, identify high-potential talent, and ensure development opportunities and succession plans are in place. 
     

Requirement 

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Food Laboratory Operational management 

  • Strong background in food microbiology or chemistry labs with deep knowledge of food testing methods, laboratory operational management systems and local laboratory regulatory requirements. 

  • Demonstrated success in improving productivity and decreasing operational costs. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, analyze complex problems, and guide an organization toward positive outcomes. 

  • Excellent communication skills enable efficient communication with all levels of the organization. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality and integrity
