As an NPI Engineer you will mainly be responsible for (but not limited to) the duties described in this job description.
Job Purpose & Context
The NPI Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation of new products/processes at a customer site, ensuring a high standard of Quality at all stages from the beginning of NPI through to MP. Answering customer queries, running samples, demonstrations and early production runs for the customer will all form part of this role. As a member of a world-wide NPI team the employee may travel extensively around Asia or other worldwide destinations, complementing the existing team. A successful NPI Engineer will be a self-starter, enjoy extensive travel, be articulate, energetic and persuasive, while paying great attention to technical detail. They will also be comfortable with working independently in a fast-paced environment and can think on their feet and easily adapt to changing circumstances.
Main Responsibilities
• Support roll-out and installation of P2i products.
• Liaise with customer/CM technical staff.
• Perform validations, buyoffs and DOE trials as required, with appropriate reporting.
• Produce and maintain the required documentation for NPI & Production, including SOP/WIs, QCP etc. and internal regular updates.
• Apply solid understanding of quality control and manufacturing concepts to oversee the production and training of operators.
• Manage customer trials and expectations.
• Perform process optimisation and implement new P2i processes at customer site to meet customer requirements; Documenting parameter settings and modifications to existing P2i processes.
• Perform regular (monthly) machine validations for P2i coating machines on site during MP, with associated reporting and monitoring.
Additional Responsibilities
• Manage continuous improvement of process, safety and quality. Storage of technical information and reports for easy access and fast retrieval.
• Ensure P2i intellectual property is protected.
• Identify opportunities for improvement both in the deployment process and business wide.
• Support QE/QT to ensure the quality of the product, preparing the necessary documentation and reports as required for MP stage
Key Relationships and Interfaces
Academic Qualifications or Key Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or an equivalent discipline
• Other specialist qualification
Skills & Experience
• Knowledge and experience of the manufacturing processes used in high-volume consumer electronics devices.
• Experience working with all Quality Control aspects in a Mass Production environment.
• Experience working as a project lead.
• Experience of running complex equipment and performing accurate measurements to tight deadlines and responding to urgent requests for technical information.
• Experience leading trouble-shooting processes, development of procedures and ability to diagnose machine issues.
• Experience of directly working with customers.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite (good working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable working in an international team.
• Good communication at Chinese.
• Basic at English.
