Operations Excellence Expert (Manager)
Role Purpose
Drive operational excellence across Vietnam operations through process standardisation, structured problem-solving, performance analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the setup and operational transition of the new manufacturing factory in Vietnam by working closely with the Operations Director and cross-functional teams to establish scalable “To-Be” processes, operational controls, and governance from the start, while preventing replication of existing operational gaps observed in the current Vietnam factory.
Act as the on-ground bridge across factory departments, support functions, IT, and leadership to ensure processes are structured, scalable, and aligned with business objectives in productivity, quality, lead time, and governance.

Key Responsibilities
- Process Mapping & Standardisation
- Document end-to-end operational processes, such as warehouse, purchasing, order-to-ship, and production support flows
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, process weaknesses, and control risks in current operations
- Develop “To-Be” operational processes with clear ownership, accountability, and controls
- Drive adoption of standardised processes across teams
- Compare “As-Is” versus “To-Be” operational flows and track implementation progress
- New Factory Setup & Operational Transition Support
- Support the setup and operational transition of the new manufacturing factory in Vietnam by working closely with the Operations Director and department leaders
- Assist each department in establishing operational workflows, controls, and process discipline during factory setup
- Support transition activities from the current Vietnam factory to the new manufacturing factory where applicable
- Identify existing operational pain points in the current Vietnam factory and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into the new factory setup
- Prevent recurring operational issues from being replicated into the new manufacturing factory
- Monitor whether operational improvements designed for the new factory are effectively implemented and sustained
- Support the establishment of scalable operational practices, governance, and KPI tracking from the start
- Operational Improvement Execution
- Lead implementation of process improvements (e.g. warehouse flow, CAPA, lead time tracking)
- Monitor impact using KPIs and operational data
- Drive follow-up with teams to ensure execution and closure, not just planning
- Ensure improvement actions are translated into practical ways of working on the factory floor
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as liaison across factory departments, support functions, IT, and leadership
- Support system-related initiatives (e.g. WMS, ERP enhancements) to ensure alignment with operational needs
- Translate business requirements into clear, structured inputs for IT and other stakeholders
- Ensure alignment across departments to avoid silo-driven decisions and operational gaps
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve process issues and improve execution
- Continuous Improvement Culture
- Build discipline in daily operations and reinforce adherence to defined processes
- Strengthen operational controls to ensure consistency, traceability, and audit readiness
- Drive “fix it right the first time” mindset across teams
- Drive standardisation before automation
- Ensure processes are consistently followed and deviations are identified, addressed, and prevented
- Promote a structured problem-solving culture across operational teams
- Root Cause Investigation & Issue Resolution
- Work directly with factory teams to investigate operational issues observed on the ground
- Lead structured root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone) to identify underlying drivers of recurring problems, not just symptoms. Identify underlying drivers of recurring operational problems, not just symptoms
- Validate findings through on-site observation, data review, and cross-functional discussion to ensure accuracy of root causes
- Drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with clear ownership, timeline, and follow-through
- Monitor effectiveness of actions and ensure issues are fully resolved and do not recur
- Hold stakeholders accountable to agreed actions and escalate where necessary
- Establish discipline in problem-solving by guiding teams to adopt structured approaches instead of ad-hoc fixes
Relevant Knowledge, Skills And Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in a manufacturing or operations environment, with proven involvement in process improvement or operational problem-solving
- Lean Six Sigma or equivalent training is a plus; practical experience in applying structured problem-solving is preferred
- Experience in ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar)
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Experience with process documentation, mapping, and CI tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process mapping skills
- Hands-on, willing to work on factory floor and engage directly with teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Logical process-driven but yet with a creative mindset
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to follow through and ensure issues are fully resolved across teams
- Fluent in Chinese and Vietnamese (English is a plus)
