Role Overview
The Engineering Projects Director / Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing end-to-end manufacturing and engineering projects—from concept through to completion. This includes managing resources, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development & Planning
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate project concepts
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to build project proposals
- Define technical specifications and manage vendor selection processes
Project Execution & Delivery
- Plan, schedule, and manage all phases of assigned projects
- Define scope, allocate resources, and oversee project execution
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
- Implement and monitor quality control throughout the project lifecycle
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders and leadership
- Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to optimize project outcomes
- Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and key issues
Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Track project performance using defined KPIs and metrics
- Identify risks and implement mitigation plans
- Conduct post-project reviews and drive continuous improvement
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all activities comply with safety, regulatory, and industry standards
- Adhere to internal policies and compliance requirements
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or related field
- PMP, Prince2, or equivalent certification is highly preferred
Experience
- Proven track record managing complex manufacturing or engineering projects (ideally >$1M budget)
- Experience in fast-paced, multi-project environments
