Job Description – Head of Quality

Location: Dong Nai, Vietnam

Position Summary

The Head of Quality will lead the overall quality management function for a large-scale garment manufacturing facility of approximately 1,000 employees. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer expectations, quality standards, and compliance requirements while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. The position works closely with Production, Technical, Merchandising, and Customer teams to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement the overall quality strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Establish a strong quality culture throughout the factory.
• Lead QA, QC, Compliance, and Testing teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational performance.

Quality Management System

• Develop, maintain, and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Establish quality standards, SOPs, inspection procedures, and control plans.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal quality policies.
• Lead internal and external quality audits.

Production Quality Management

• Oversee quality control throughout cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing operations.
• Monitor quality KPIs and investigate quality issues.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce defects and rework.
• Partner with Production and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes.

Customer Quality Management

• Serve as the key quality contact for international customers and brands.
• Manage customer audits, quality reviews, and complaint resolution.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Ensure customer quality expectations are consistently achieved.

Compliance & Certification

• Support customer compliance requirements and factory certifications.
• Ensure readiness for customer audits and assessments.
• Monitor adherence to quality standards, product specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership & Development

• Build, mentor, and develop the quality organization.
• Train managers, supervisors, and inspectors on quality standards and best practices.
• Develop succession plans and strengthen team capabilities.

Continuous Improvement

• Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Drive initiatives to improve:
  • First Pass Yield (FPY)
  • Right First Time (RFT)
  • Customer complaint reduction
  • Defect reduction
  • Process capability improvement

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or relevant disciplines.
• Professional quality certifications are preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of quality management experience in manufacturing.
• At least 5 years in a senior quality leadership role.
• Strong experience within garment, textile, footwear, or labor-intensive manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing quality systems for factories with 800-2,000 employees.
• Proven experience working with international customers and export manufacturing operations.

Language

• Fluent English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Vietnamese speaking is required.
• Chinese language is not required.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of AQL standards, quality assurance methodologies, and audit processes.
• Experience with:
  • ISO 9001
  • CAPA
  • 8D
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • FMEA
  • SPC
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma

Reporting Line

• Reports directly to Factory Director / General Manager.
• Leads the entire Quality organization including QA, QC, Compliance, Laboratory, and Inspection
