Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

This role focuses on sustaining and continuous improvement of existing switch-mode power supply products. The engineer will drive design changes related to component obsolescence, material shortages, supplier-driven changes, quality improvements, and product lifecycle management. The position requires strong expertise in mechanical design, thermal management, material qualification, failure analysis, and engineering change implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain existing power supply products throughout their lifecycle.
• Lead mechanical engineering activities related to component obsolescence, end-of-life (EOL), material shortages, and supplier changes.
• Evaluate and qualify alternative mechanical components and materials while ensuring compliance with product performance, reliability, and manufacturing requirements.
• Review supplier drawings, technical specifications, samples, and proposed design changes.
• Update and modify 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Conduct mechanical testing, validation, root-cause analysis, and failure investigations.
• Perform thermal analysis and validation, including heatsink optimization, airflow assessment, fan selection, temperature measurement, and thermal material evaluation.
• Drive engineering change implementation (ECO/ECN) from technical assessment through production release.
• Collaborate with sourcing, quality, manufacturing, component engineering, and suppliers to resolve technical and supply chain challenges.
• Support continuous product improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design, product sustaining, product maintenance, or lifecycle engineering.
• Hands-on experience supporting existing products through design changes driven by obsolescence, material shortages, supplier transitions, or reliability improvements.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D CAD) and AutoCAD (2D drafting).
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, material selection, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA.
• Experience with qualification of mechanical components, plastics, sheet metal, machined parts, thermal components, packaging materials, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Strong troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation skills.
• Good understanding of thermal management, including fan selection, heatsinks, airflow optimization, thermal interface materials, and temperature validation.
• Familiarity with power supply products, PCB mechanical integration, magnetic components, EMI/EMC, creepage, and clearance concepts is highly preferred.
• Good English communication skills for technical discussions and documentation.
