Job Description – Production Director (Vietnam Operations)

Position Summary

The Production Director will play a critical leadership role in establishing and managing Company’s new production facility in Vietnam. He/She will be responsible for building the production organization from the ground up, transferring production know-how from Thailand, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese regulations, and driving operational excellence. The position requires a strong leader with hands-on factory setup experience and proven ability to deliver efficiency, quality, and sustainability in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Factory Setup & Technology Transfer

• Lead the planning, construction, and commissioning of the new Vietnam production facility.

• Coordinate with HQ in Thailand to ensure smooth technology transfer and standardization of processes.

• Define factory layout, production workflow, and equipment installation.

2. Production & Operations Management

• Establish production systems, policies, and KPIs aligned with company goals.

• Ensure production targets on volume, quality, cost, and delivery are consistently achieved.

• Implement best practices in lean manufacturing, safety, and environmental standards.

3. Compliance & Regulatory

• Ensure adherence to Vietnamese labor laws, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) regulations, and industry standards.

• Manage audits, certifications, and quality compliance for local and export markets.

4. People & Organization Development

• Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing production team.

• Build a strong workplace culture emphasizing safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Mentor Vietnamese managers and ensure alignment with Company’s values and global culture.

5. Cost, Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and control production budgets, optimize resource allocation.

• Work with Quality Assurance to maintain high product standards and reduce defects.

• Drive continuous improvement, process innovation, and automation to enhance competitiveness.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, R&D, and Sales teams to meet customer requirements.

• Work closely with Procurement to secure reliable local raw material suppliers while maintaining global quality standards.

• Partner with Sustainability teams to implement eco-friendly and recyclable production initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, or related fields.

• At least 15 years of manufacturing experience, with 7+ years in senior leadership (Factory Director / Production Director / Plant Manager).

• Proven track record in factory setup or greenfield projects in Vietnam or Southeast Asia.

• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, automation, and ERP/MRP systems.

• Experience in plastics, packaging, FMCG, or consumer goods is highly preferred.

• Deep understanding of Vietnamese labor, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong English communication skills (Thai language is a plus).
