Chief Accountant

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Ho Chi Minh City

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead accounting governance, statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and finance support operations for a large-scale financial services organization.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, maintaining a strong control environment, and building effective relationships with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders. This position is also responsible for leading multiple operational support functions and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Governance

• Act as the appointed Chief Accountant of the Company in accordance with regulatory requirements.

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.

• Oversee the preparation, review, and sign-off of financial statements and regulatory submissions.

• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.

• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of accounting records and financial information.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting

• Lead the preparation and submission of statutory and management reports.

• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to relevant regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.

• Monitor changes in regulatory and accounting requirements and assess business impacts.

• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory inspectors during audits and reviews.

Tax & Compliance Management

• Oversee tax reporting and compliance activities.

• Manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.

• Support tax audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.

• Identify and mitigate potential financial and compliance risks.

Operational Finance Oversight

• Lead finance operational support functions to ensure efficient and effective execution of key business processes.

• Drive process standardization, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.

• Strengthen governance frameworks and improve service quality across finance support activities.

• Ensure operational controls are effectively implemented and monitored.

Procurement & Corporate Services Governance

• Provide oversight on procurement governance and corporate asset management activities.

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and approval frameworks.

• Drive cost efficiency and effective vendor management practices.

• Monitor operational risks and control effectiveness within supporting functions.

Leadership & Organization Development

• Lead and develop a team of managers and specialists across multiple functions.

• Establish a high-performance culture with strong accountability and customer orientation.

• Drive talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability building.

• Promote collaboration across finance and business teams.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership team.

• Support business initiatives from an accounting, compliance, and governance perspective.

• Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Education & Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related discipline.

• Eligible to hold the Chief Accountant position under Vietnamese regulations.

• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CPA Australia, ICAEW, or equivalent are preferred.

Experience

• 15+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or Financial Control.

• At least 10 years of leadership experience in a senior accounting role.

• Experience serving as Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, Financial Controller, or equivalent.

• Proven experience working with regulatory bodies, tax authorities, and external auditors.

• Experience within highly regulated industries is highly preferred.
